Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami 

Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami festival comes in the October according to Hindi month it falls on Ashwayuja of every calendar year. Nine days of Goddess Durga Navaratri worships are performed in the Night as Navdurga Jagratri before the Dashara festival of fest.

Durgashtami is the Eighth Day.
MahaNavami is the Ninth Day.
Vijaya Dashami is the Tenth Day.
Vijaya stands for the Victory and Dashami stands for the tenth day.

One side on Tenth Day points the Victory of Goddess Durga Mata over the Demon Mahishasura. Thus Shree Durga killed the Mahishasura and became Mahishasura Mardini on that day.

Other side Rama killed the Demon Ravana on this day. Demon Ravana was very curel and always used to created difficulties to sages and other gentle mans.
